Aakash Chopra in favor of promoting Ravindra Jadeja to the A+ category

Aakash Chopra wants Indian star Ravindra Jadeja to be promoted to the A+ category of BCCI’s central contract list. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) central contract list for the 2021-2022 cycle has seen a number of ups and downs for several players.

While Category A+ – the highest on BCCI’s central contract list – remained unchanged with captain Rohit Sharma, former skipper Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah retaining their spots, Category A did not. saw only five players for the 2021-22 cycle. By comparison, the 2021-22 cycle had 10 players in Category A.

Aakash Chopra wants Ravindra Jadeja promoted to A+ in BCCI’s central contract list

India’s Test specialists Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma, who lost their places in the squad due to poor form last month, moved up to Category B alongside Hardik Pandya (C) and Shikhar Dhawan (VS).

Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami are in Category A in the latest central contracts. However, former India fly-half Aakash Chopra believes Ravindra Jadeja should have been promoted to the A+ category due to his consistent performance for the Indian team in the past.

“The category where there has been no change is the A+ category, where Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are there. But why not Ravindra Jadeja? I think Jadeja’s name should be there in this list. In the next central contract list, I think Jadeja’s name will be there in this category because he performed so brilliantly,” said Aakash Chopra.

Ravindra Jadeja had been part of India’s T20I World Cup campaign and appeared in the Test series against New Zealand in November. However, an injury forced him out of the squad for the away series against South Africa. The all-rounder made a splendid return to the international setup with the limited series home series against Sri Lanka, and had an outstanding outing in the first Test against the same team (175*; 5/41 and 4/46) .

Aakash Chopra wants KL Rahul and Rishabh pants in A+ category

Along with Ravindra Jadeja, Aakash Chopra also wants KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the A+ category in the upcoming contract list.

“Currently, Jadeja is in A grade. In the next list, I think Jadeja and KL Rahul will be in A+ grade. Rishabh Pant is going to be a strong contender. He is the vice-captain of the team. All should be pushed into the A+ category,” said the former India batter.

Rishabh Pant has played some crucial shots lately for the team. He has 1831 tries in 29 games at 40.68. He has 715 ODI races with an average of 32.50. He played some pretty decent shots in the recent series against West Indies and also scored 96 points in the first Test against Sri Lanka. KL Rahul was also the mainstay of the Indian batting unit.

KL Rahul was ruled out of the playoffs against West Indies (T20I) and Sri Lanka (T20I and Tests) due to injury. KL Rahul suffered a left upper hamstring strain in the 2nd ODI of the West Indies Series. In February 2022, in India’s second ODI against the Windies, KL Rahul scored 49 (48) and made 6000 runs in international cricket in all formats.
