Massachusetts State Police, Winthrop Police and the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office are investigating an incident involving multiple gun shots following a stolen truck that crashed into a building.

Massachusetts State Police Dave Procopio said the incident happened around 2:45 p.m.

Preliminary investigation suggests that a male suspect stole a truck owned by plumbing and drainage company Rapid Flow and then crashed into a building on Veterans Road in Winthrop.

After the accident, the suspect got out of the truck and continued on foot.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect, who was armed with a firearm, allegedly shot a passerby as well as a man. Police are investigating whether the man attempted to hire the suspect to end the threat. Both female and male are deceased.

Winthrop police arrived at the scene within moments and shot dead the suspect. The suspect is also deceased.

The investigation is active and is being led by the Detective Unit of the Suffolk County State Police and the Suffolk County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Winthrop Police, Service Section of state police at crime scenes and state police ballistics unit.
