Pawtucket Commercial Director Boyle retires

Donald Grebien

After a career of nearly 40 years as a professional in planning and economic development, including more than four years as Director of Commerce for the Town of Pawtucket, Jeanne Boyle is retiring. She will hold the position of Commercial Director until mid-November.

It was an honor to work with Jeanne, a very dedicated and talented city official who helped guide the city’s economic development efforts, administered economic and job creation programs, and helped attract new businesses and to keep existing businesses. Jeanne is also the Executive Director of the Pawtucket Redevelopment Agency.

Jeanne Boyle

When I hired Jeanne, we were extremely impressed with her experience and knowledge of statewide economic development priorities and delighted to have her on the team. A graduate of Williams College and the Graduate School of Public Administration at New York University, she was also a student in the executive education program at Harvard Kennedy School. She has served on numerous professional boards and committees and is the recipient of the 2014 Robert M. Goodrich Public Service Award from the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council and the Distinguished Leadership Award from the Rhode Island-American Planning Association.

Jeanne’s background and experience has been a great asset to my administration as we have successfully completed a number of initiatives. She certainly left a legacy as the city’s first commercial director. During her time in the city, she worked on numerous projects including the Tidewater Landing Project, the Pawtucket Town Center ‘Super TIF’ legislation and the Conant Thread TOD and Transit Hub which are intended to shape the future of Pawtucket.

Thanks to the Department of Commerce and leadership, the city has also demonstrated its resourcefulness and resilience during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by helping our small businesses with Pawtucket Business Development Corp’s COVID-19 Relief Loan Program. . (PBDC).

Jeanne, you have had a long and successful professional career and have served the residents of Pawtucket well. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement with your family and friends. Thank you for your work with our community.
